Civil Servants

Staff at the Planning Inspectorate are Civil Servants.

Civil Servants are required to comply with the Civil Service Code (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/civil-service-code/the-civil-service-code). This requires them to act with integrity, honesty, objectivity, impartiality and political impartiality.

Civil servants are managed in accordance with the Civil Service Management Code (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/civil-servants-terms-and-conditions). This includes a close link between pay and performance. They are promoted based on a considered decision as to the fitness of individuals, on merit, to undertake the duties concerned and in accordance with Staff Handbook.
